Roads closed for Ottawa Race Weekend

Thousands of runners will be hitting the streets of Ottawa and Gatineau to participate in the 2017 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.

There are six different races taking place between Saturday and Sunday, which means several roads will be closed.

All weekend long

The Queen Elizabeth Driveway, between Laurier Avenue West and Somerset Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. on Friday to 6 p.m. on Sunday. 

Organizers say the biggest impact to traffic will be in the area around Ottawa City Hall, which serves as the start and finish lines for all of the events. 

The Ottawa 2K, HTG Sports 5K and Ottawa 10K will be held on Saturday. On Sunday, participants will take part in the full marathon, kid's marathon and half marathon. 

Road closures on Saturday

• Laurier Avenue will be closed between Metcalfe and Nicholas streets from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Elgin Street will be closed between Cooper and Wellington streets from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Elgin Street will be closed between Cooper and Frank streets from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Elgin Street will be closed between Catherine Street and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway from 3:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
• Lisgar Street will be closed between Cartier and Elgin streets from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Elgin Street will be closed between Lisgar and Catherine streets from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Frank Street will be closed between Elgin Street and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
• Queen Street will be closed between Elgin and O'Connor streets from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• O'Connor Street will be closed between Wellington and Albert streets from 3:30 p.m. to 4:35 p.m.
• Wellington Street will be closed between Bank Street and Colonel By Drive eastbound from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Lakeside Avenue will be closed from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Bronson Avenue's southbound lanes will be reduced between Lakeside Avenue and Colonel By Drive from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Colonel By Drive will be closed between Rideau and Main streets from 3 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
• Colonel By Drive will be closed between Main Street and Hawthorne Avenue from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Colonel By Drive will be closed between Hawthorne and Bronson avenues from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Pretoria Bridge will be closed from 3:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
• Argyle Avenue will be closed between and Elgin Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
• The Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be closed between Somerset and Elgin streets from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• The Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be closed between Elgin and Preston streets from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

• Carling Avenue westbound will be closed between Preston Street and Sherwood Drive from 6:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Carling Avenue eastbound will be closed at Preston Street from 6:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Sherwood Drive will be closed between Carling and Fairmont avenues from 6:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
• Fairmont Avenue will be closed between Sherwood Drive and Wellington Street from 6:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
