Ottawa Senators surprise Jonathan Pitre before second treatment
Sens visited Pitre day before their game against Minnesota Wild
A day before their game against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, the Ottawa Senators surprised one of their biggest fans, Jonathan Pitre, as he waits for a second attempt at a life-saving stem cell transplant.
The team shared the surprise visit on their Facebook page in a touching video, which explains how it all came together.
"It means a whole lot. One of the biggest reasons for that is that we're going in transplant in three days now and it just gave me a big confidence boost," Pitre, 16, said to the camera.
"I'm just so grateful for them to come and take the time to see me."
Pitre, who suffers from a rare blistering skin disease called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), is scheduled to be admitted to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital Friday.
His transplant is set for April 13, according to his mother, Tina Boileau.
