Science and tech museum won't reopen for at least 3 weeks
It will be at least three weeks before the Canada Science and Technology Museum reopens to the public.
The museum was forced to close late last week after maintenance workers discovered mould in the building's south wall.
The damage is still being assessed and work to remove the mould hasn't yet started. Museum spokesman Olivier Bouffard said officials hope the work will begin soon to allow the museum to reopen this fall.
"The museum obviously wants to be able to reopen as soon as possible, but ... at this point we're still finalizing plans as to how the work will proceed. It's a complex task because of different issues with the building," Bouffard said.
The temporary closure hasn't resulted in any layoffs, but some museum staff here have been reassigned to other museums.
The museum will wait to find out how long the repairs will take before it decides if and how to reimburse its members for the closure.
