Rideau Canal opens to skaters Saturday
Thank the cold: the Rideau Canal skateway is now open from the Laurier Avenue bridge to the Bronson Avenue bridge.

Sharpen your skates, Ottawa: a 4.4 km section of the Rideau Canal is now open.
The skateway will be open from the Laurier Avenue bridge to the Bronson Avenue bridge, according to the National Capital Commission.
The earliest the canal opened for skating was on Dec. 18 in 1972; the latest was Feb. 2 in 2002.
