Rain lingers on Friday before a pleasant weekend
It should keep raining all morning, with a chance of a thunderstorm
It's still raining to start today, not that we need more of it.
Environment Canada has special weather statements for most of eastern Ontario saying 20 millimetres of rain is likely as a total for this system; Ottawa got 7.6 millimetres Thursday evening with rain that started downtown right before 6 p.m.
Rainfall warnings remain in place for communities north and east of Gatineau, with another 10 to 25 millimetres expected on top of what fell before 5 a.m.
There could also be thunderstorms in our region, which would boost rainfall totals.
Renfrew County and the Pontiac do not have any alerts or warnings, with less rain and no lightning in the forecast.
The wind picks up out of the southwest, gusting to 40 km/h. which will help boost the temperatures close to 20 C in Ottawa.
The good news is that the weekend looks dry, with temperatures in the mid-to-high teens.
The heavy rain has river forecasters predicting high water levels this week.
