Heat warning in Ottawa as forecast calls for humidex of 34 Tuesday

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Ottawa as the temperature is set to hit 32 C, but it will feel more like 34 with the humidity.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Ottawa as the temperature is set to hit 32 C, but it will feel more like 34 with the humidity.

A very high UV index of eight is expected, along with winds blowing at 20 kilometres per hour.

A bit of relief from the heat will come overnight with a low of 20 C, but Wednesday is expected to be even hotter with a high of 33 C that will feel like 41 with the humidity.

The heat wave continues on Thursday with a mix of sun and cloud, and a high of 34 C expected. The overnight low won't bring much relief at 21 C.

As for Friday, there's a 40 per cent chance of showers with a high of 31 C and a low of 19 C.

When the UV index reaches 6 or more, Environment Canada advises people to wear protective clothing, sunscreen and seek shade. (CBC News)
