Ottawa students face suspension if immunization records not updated by Dec. 14
Ottawa Public Health sent 2,000 warning letters to parents, guardians
Ottawa Public Health warned that 2,000 students could be suspended if their immunization records are not updated by December 14th.
- Immunization records out of date for 63,000 Ottawa students
- Immunization records still out of date for thousands of students
In July, the agency said as many as 63,000 children in Ottawa had incomplete immunization records.
The agency sent out 5,000 letters in October to advise parents and guardians to update their children's records. Approximately 3,000 files were updated but the remaining 2,000 were not, prompting a second letter threatening suspension.
An Ottawa Public Health spokesperson told CBC News in an email Friday that the phone lines were "very busy" with calls to update immunization records.
Immunization records can also be updated online.
The agency began reviewing the immunization records for 150,000 children in Ottawa in April.
