Chesterton Drive shooting Ottawa's 67th act of gunplay so far this year

Shots were fired through the front door of a home on Chesterton Drive early Monday morning, and Ottawa police say a victim who was grazed by a bullet won't co-operate with investigators.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. at a residential unit in the 100 block of Chesterton, near Merivale Road. Police would not say whether it happened in an apartment building, rowhouse or single family home.

When officers arrived they found evidence that multiple shots had been fired through the front door of the unit.

A man inside was grazed by one of the bullets, but he refused medical attention and is not co-operating with the investigation, according to Ottawa police spokesman Const. Marc Soucy.

Witnesses have reported that a vehicle was seen leaving the area at the time.

The investigation continues.

It was the city's 67th shooting so far in 2016.
