Ottawa Hospital refers audit results to police, launches civil suit

The Ottawa Hospital has reported the results of an external audit into its planning and facilities department to police and launched a civil lawsuit, it announced on its website Tuesday.

The Ottawa Hospital has reported the results of an external audit into its planning and facilities department to police and launched a civil lawsuit, it announced on its website Tuesday.
The Ottawa Hospital's investigation into its planning and facilities department has resulted in a civil lawsuit. The hospital has also referred the case to police.

The statement said the hospital "identified grounds for concern" last summer through its internal control procedures.

The facilities and planning department manages capital projects and renovations at the hospital. 

"As a critical and respected public institution in our community, we know The Ottawa Hospital is held to a higher standard in how it conducts business and manages issues that arise. We are confident that we have the appropriate internal controls in place to guide the actions and behaviours of our staff and the organization as a whole.  We do not condone or tolerate activities contrary to our values," the hospital statement said.

"As the matter is now before the court, we have no further comment at this time."
