Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre to get 53 new correctional officers, province says

The Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre has six new correctional officers and another 53 are being recruited and trained, according to the province.

On Friday, Ontario's ministry of community safety and correctional services announced that 180 new correctional officers are currently being recruited and will go through training at a later date. Of those, 40 are supposed to go to the OCDC.

Earlier in January, the ministry announced that 144 new correctional officers are in an eight-week training program, 13 of whom are supposed to go to the OCDC when their training is finished.

And in December, the ministry announced that 91 new officers had recently completed training and were deployed. Six of those were sent to the OCDC.
