Randy Hillier won this district for the PCs in 2018, getting more than 50 per cent of the vote, but decided not to run again earlier this year.

The NDP candidate got just over 30 per cent of the vote, followed by the Liberal candidate with just over 10 per cent.

Eight candidates have declared in this race.

The NDP candidate was born and raised in this district, and has been an accessibility advocate since an accident left him a quadriplegic.

He works with businesses to help them comply with accessibility regulations and is part of the LGBTQ community.

The Progressive Conservative candidate was born and raised in Lanark County, and he and his wife have three adult children.

He recently retired as CEO of ConnectWell Community Health, primarily serving Lanark and Renfrew counties.

The New Blue candidate has been working in a management position at a consultancy for nearly 10 years.

He has a master's in forestry from the University of Toronto and a master's in disaster and emergency management from York.

The Ontario Party candidate moved to South Frontenac during the pandemic.

He is a recently retired veterinarian.

The liberal candidate is an elementary school teacher who served as a councillor in Mississippi Mills.

She is a mother to two children with her partner.

The Green Party candidate is a retired chief medical officer of health and family physician who is also a lifelong environmentalist.

Her work in public health covered topics including poverty reduction, health equity, food insecurity, clean water and active transportation.
