Pedestrian struck and killed by OC Transpo bus
Man was hit by bus near Bayshore station Friday night
Police are investigating the death of a 53-year-old man struck by an OC Transpo bus Friday night near Bayshore station and the Bayshore Shopping Centre.
The collision happened at around 10:45 p.m. on Woodridge Crescent, the Ottawa Police Service said, and the man died at the scene.
"OC Transpo is cooperating fully with the investigation," wrote Jim Greer, acting director of the city's transit operations, in an email.
The city said it wouldn't comment further on the incident as it's under investigation.

Connor Boyd said emergency services swarmed the station near his apartment at approximately 11:40 p.m.
From his balcony, Boyd said, he counted eight police cruisers, an ambulance and four OC Transpo vehicles on the scene.
Boyd said Bayshore station is often busy with pedestrian traffic and he'd witnessed several close calls before, but nothing like this.
"It's easy to see how something could go wrong if somebody — a driver [or] a pedestrian — wasn't paying attention," he said.
"But I think that's just how it is with the way that the station is set up. There's just a lot of pedestrian traffic and a lot of bus traffic. So everyone has to be careful over there."
Station can be dark
Austin Richmond, who was waiting for his bus Saturday morning at Bayshore station, said he was "pretty shocked."
Richmond said he feels the station is safe, but it's understandable incidents like this happen.
"Especially at night time," he said. "It can be pretty dark around here. It's a dark station."
The city said a detour that was in place has been lifted and buses are once again arriving at and departing from Bayshore station.
