A bumper crop of flying bloodsuckers has descended on Ottawa-area cottage country because of higher-than-average water levels from the spring melt.
Cooler spring temperatures have also helped.
"It's the worst I can remember," says Constance Bay resident Peter Mutton, who has been busy swatting pesky mosquitoes off his dog Shiba, as well as himself.
"They're just insane, especially when the wind drops."
