Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has completed minor surgery at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital to deal with a recurring skin cancer.
The mayor said through his Twitter account a return of Squamous cell carcinoma forced him to take a day off work for surgery, but said he hoped he would be back at work Wednesday.
He tweeted again Tuesday to say the surgery was successful, though it took longer than expected.
A spokesman for Watson said he was treated for two spots — one on his temple area and one on his neck.
Watson was first diagnosed with the skin cancer and had surgery to remove it in 2007.
