Fund aimed at supporting families of sick children, teens 'facing extraordinary financial pressures'

The Max Keeping Foundation will cease operations this summer and leftover funds will be used to create the Max Keeping Fund for Kids at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Max Keeping was too ill to attend an announcement stating his charity would dissolve this summer.
The charitable foundation announced Wednesday, alongside CHEO, it is no longer accepting donations.

When it dissolves, the foundation's remaining $150,000 will be donated to the CHEO Foundation to start the Keeping fund, aimed at supporting families "facing extraordinary financial pressures when their child or teen experiences a serious illness, disability or trauma," according to a news release issued Wednesday.

"It will help families who may not have the financial means to cover some of the expenses resulting from their child’s health challenges, [including] travel, lodging, or specialized treatment or equipment that are not covered, or partially covered, by other sources."

Keeping was too ill to attend Wednesday's announcement as he battles incurable cancer.

The foundation bearing the former CTV Ottawa anchor's name had been operating since 1994.
