Deaths of man, woman found alongside unharmed child not criminal: Gatineau police
Police awaiting toxicology results to see if drugs, alcohol played role
Gatineau police say the deaths of two adults whose bodies were found alongside an unharmed 3-year-old child in a Hull apartment are not being investigated as a crime.
Police discovered the bodies of a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s after receiving a 911 call just before 4 p.m. Monday. The caller reported that someone may have died in a building on Rue Bégin near Moussette Park, police said in a media release.
The child was taken to hospital as a precaution and was found to be unharmed.
Awaiting toxicology results
CBC News has identified the man found dead in the apartment as Christopher Lecouvie.
Lecouvie's relationship to the woman and the child has not been confirmed.
Autopsies showed no signs of violence in the deaths of the adults, but police are awaiting the results of toxicology tests which could determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role, according to Gatineau police Const. Andrée East.
"They were in the balcony, I remember... I think they were with a couple of friends but nothing really like a hard party or anything. They were just talking or something. Sometimes I see them barbecue, sometimes I see them playing with the kid on the balcony, but I never expected such a thing to happen," Farhat said.
Neighbours said the couple had been living in the apartment for at least six months.
