Ian Bush, accused in vet home invasion, to get psychiatric assessment
Second World War vet was tied up and robbed inside his apartment building
A man facing charges of attempted murder and robbery after a home invasion earlier this month will undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment.
Ian Bush appeared in an Ottawa courtroom on Wednesday, where he was ordered to undergo the assessment at The Royal Mental Health Centre facility.
His wife, two children and brother showed up at court for the appearance. Bush returns to court on Jan. 23.
Ernest Côté, a veteran of the Second World War, was tied up and robbed inside his apartment building in New Edinburgh last Thursday.
Bush, 59, was arrested on Friday after police released surveillance video footage of the suspect following the incident.
In addition to attempted murder and robbery with violence, the charges against Bush include forcible confinement, breaking and entering, and two counts of using a credit card obtained by crime.
