Human bones discovered at the site of the future Parliament station last week are from the Barrack Hill cemetery, the city said Tuesday.

The small number of human bones were found at the station construction site on Queen Street on June 7.

An archaeologist who investigated the remains has since determined they were from the Barrack Hill cemetery.

The cemetery, near what is now Queen and Elgin Streets, closed in 1845 and many of the remains were moved to other burial grounds.

But a number of bones have been found as construction of light rail has moved along Queen.

The city said it will be reporting the findings to the appropriate agencies to determine what to do with the remains.
