CBC Ottawa hosted a live web chat with Toronto youth social worker Jabari Lindsay on Thursday to discuss gang exit strategies.

Youth social worker Jabari Lindsay discusses gang exit strategies

In 2014 there was a record number of shootings in Ottawa — 49 — and police say the alarming spike comes as rival street gangs fight over drug territory.

Jabari Lindsay, a youth social worker from the Toronto area, was live on CBC Radio's Ontario Today to discuss gang exit strategies, then joined us here for a live web chat.

Lindsay is the Manager of Youth Development for the City of Toronto. He's led a number of youth gang exit programs and spoken to several communities across Ontario concerned about gang violence.

It's all part of CBC Ottawa's Under The Gun series on gang violence — and how to stop it.
