Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed Highway 7 south of Carleton Place after a fatal two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.
In a social media post, OPP said a westbound SUV crossed the centre lane and collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer south of White Road just after 5 a.m.
The 54-year-old man from Ottawa who was the sole occupant of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The truck driver was not seriously injured.
The highway was closed in the area until around 12:45 p.m., OPP said.
The crash happened about 11 kilometres southwest of downtown Carleton Place and 60 kilometres southwest of downtown Ottawa.
