OPP say sudden death near Carleton Place was homicide

A 39-year-old man found dead on Thursday is now believed to be the victim of a homicide, Ontario Provincial Police said late Friday.

A 39-year-old Beckwith Township man found dead Thursday is now believed to be the victim of a homicide, Ontario Provincial Police said late Friday.

The body of Gregory Slewidge was found in a residence in Scotch Corners, just west of Carleton Place, Thursday morning.

Initially, police called it a case of sudden death. But after a post-mortem examination Friday, investigators determined Slewidge had been killed, OPP said in a news release. 

The investigation into Slewidge's death is led by Lanark County OPP under the criminal investigation branch of the OPP.
