On Sept. 25, 1975, the Franco-Ontarian flag was raised for the first time to honour all French-speaking residents in Ontario.

The 40-year anniversary of that day, and the 400th anniversary of the French presence in Ontario, was marked Friday across Ottawa and you shared the different ways you were celebrating the day.

As part of tradition, there is singing and various performing arts.

Many institutions also raised the Franco-Ontarian Flag to mark 40 years.
