Ottawa's Todd Coopee has spent many a day basking in the glow of the Easy Bake Oven, and he shares his baking tips on D is for Dinner this week.

D is for Dinner is a weekly food segment on CBC Ottawa's afternoon radio show All in a Day with host Alan Neal.

Coopee is about to launch his new book Light Bulb Baking: A History of the Easy Bake Oven Nov. 4 at Art-Is-In Bakery, showing off his massive personal collection.

Trifle Toffee Cake

  • 2 Easy Bake Oven plain yellow cake mixes.
  • 1 small box vanilla instant pudding.
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk.
  • 1 small tub of Cool Whip, softened.
  • 2 Skor or Heath candy bars (crushed).

1. Make cakes according to directions. Let cool.

2. Mix milk and pudding.

3. Fold pudding and Cool Whip together.

4. In a trifle dish or glass bowl, layer the cake, then cover with some of the pudding mixture, then sprinkle 1/2 of the candy. Repeat layers. Chill until served.
