Police identify woman killed in Highway 7 crash
Police say 35-year-old Kitchener woman was pronounced dead at the scene
Ontario Provincial Police have identified the driver killed in a head-on collision on Highway 7 near Sharbot Lake, Ont., on Monday afternoon.
Police were called to the collision just west of Silver Lake Provincial Park shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sharbot Lake is approximately 120 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
Samantha Stremmelaar, 35, of Kitchener, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene, the OPP said in a media release issued Tuesday.
The second driver was taken to hospital in Kingston, Ont., with serious injuries.
The OPP said their investigation shows an eastbound Dodge van collided with a westbound Subaru.
Police temporarily blocked off Highway 7 between Elphin-Maberly Road and Zealand Road. The roadway has since re-opened to traffic.
