The person's age is unknown and investigators have not yet identified the body, police said.
A city worker called 911 just before 9 a.m. ET Monday after seeing a body in the river near Bordeleau Park, which sits off King Edward Avenue, Cathcart and Bruyere streets in the Lowertown neighbourhood.
Police responded and later found the body submerged in water. Officers from the Ottawa police marine, dive and trails unit will recover the body, said Ottawa police spokesman Const. Marc Soucy.
