Nuremberg prosecutor warns war crimes conference
One of the lawyers who prosecuted Nazi war criminals in the Nuremberg trials says the world still hasn't learned from history.
Ben Ferencz came to Rome to add his voice to the call for an international criminal court. He said the world has not kept its promise that genocide would never happen again after the Holocaust.
More than 150 countries are trying to work out a deal that would create the world's first permanent court.
Ferencz says the certainty of punishment could be a powerful deterrent for those who commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.
There are wide differences on how the court would function. The role of the U.N. Security Council in the World Court also needs to be worked out.
