Zach Fucale traded by Mooseheads to Remparts
Defenceman Matt Murphy also dealt
The Halifax Mooseheads have traded star goaltender Zach Fucale to the Quebec Remparts, saying goodbye to the most decorated netminder in franchise history.
The team says Fucale, defenceman Matt Murphy and a 2015 fifth round QMJHL draft pick are being swapped for goaltender Eric Brassard and Quebec’s first and third round picks in the 2016 draft, and its first and second picks in 2018.
Fucale holds a Moosehead’s record for wins (126) and shutouts (12), and was part of the team that won the Memorial Cup in 2013. He’s been a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League first team all-star and last year had the lowest goals against average in the league.
Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell says it was a tough decision to part with Fucale and Murphy, but that they now have a chance to play for a Memorial Cup with the Remparts.
Fucale was the Montreal Canadiens' second round draft pick in 2013.
