Halifax Regional Police say two youths are in custody for weapons-related offences after a Dartmouth resident reported hearing a "large bang" around Booth Street and Main Street early this morning.

Police responded to the weapons call at 4:21 a.m. They say officers arrested a 17-year-old in the backyard of a Kennedy Drive home five minutes later and then found a 15-year-old inside a nearby home.

No one was injured. Police have not said if they seized a weapon.

Const. Dianne Woodworth says police are still investigating what happened and whether the incident is connected to the shooting of Joseph Douglas Cameron, who was killed along Mount Edward Road earlier this week.

Police say they don't believe it was a random act.

CBC's Craig Paisley says there were still several police vehicles on Booth Street around 9 a.m.
