Heavy rain cancels flights, ferry sailings in Nova Scotia
Up to 70 millimetres of rain expected for much of the province over the weekend
Heavy rain and strong winds have caused flight and ferry cancellations in Nova Scotia this weekend.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning Saturday with up to 70 millimetres expected along the Atlantic coast and Cape Breton.
"The rain will persist tonight and then taper to showers Sunday morning over mainland Nova Scotia and near noon for Cape Breton," the national weather office said.
Large waves and pounding surf are also likely along the Atlantic coast this weekend, Environment Canada said.

—@ryansnoddonA high of 11 C was forecast for Saturday, however, temperatures across the province were expected to drop to –5 on Sunday.
Marine Atlantic announced its Saturday crossings between North Sydney, N.S., and Port aux Basques, N.L., have been cancelled. Crossings for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday could also be delayed because of high seas.
Ferry crossings between Digby, N.S., and Saint John, N.B., were also cancelled for Saturday and Sunday.
A number of flights at Halifax Stanfield International Airport have been cancelled or delayed due to the weather. Travellers are advised to check their flight status before going to the airport.
Nova Scotia RCMP have issued a warning for drivers to slow down as roads may be slippery due to the rain.
