Warm up this weekend with some local music

A ridge of pressure stretched out across the region will bring a sunny end of February and a sunny start to March.

If you’re looking for some entertainment to take in while you defrost this weekend, there's a whole lot going on in Halifax.

Friday

There’s a winter beach party happening with the Urban Surf Kings between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Emera Oval. This is a free event event during the public skate with hot chocolate and prizes for best beach costumes.

Six-time Juno Award winner Colin James will also be in town this evening in support of his new album Hearts On Fire. 

The new LP was recorded in Nashville during a stretch of warm spring weather, so hopefully the music will help warm you up. P.E.I.’s Tim Chaisson opens the show.

The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Schooner Room inside Casino Nova Scotia.

Saturday

Celebrate African Heritage Month with the last free concert presented by the Halifax Jazz Festival and Halifax Public Libraries. 

On Saturday at 2 p.m. inside the Cole Harbour Public Library, local rapper and R&B singer RealEyez (AKA Erin Dorrington) will do a live performance and artist talk.  

RealEyez is active member of the the local community and is a volunteer with iMOVe and Centerline studios.

Sunday

The 2015 East Coast Music Awards is just over a month away and the NSCC Music Business Class is fundraising to make it to St. John's, N.L., for the event.

This Sunday, Kim Harris and Eric Stephen Martin will play an intimate live performance inside yoga studio RIO HFX with all proceeds going towards the class trip.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
