For Halifax electronic dance band Neon Dreams, welcoming American rap celebrity Waka Flocka Flame back to Halifax last weeekend — one night after he performed in New York City during Kanye West’s Roc City set —  was a bit of a dream come true.

Since working up the courage to knock on Waka’s green room door and present him with music, Neon Dreams has signed to Waka’s label, 36 Brick House.

Neon Dreams DJ Corey LeRue originally meet the rapper after forgetting his laptop charger at a Waka Flocka concert in a "fluky act of God."

The group is now the only Halifax band on the rapper’s Atlanta-based label.

Last weekend the group spent over 24 hours in the studio with their new boss, crafting music for both parties, as well as shooting a music video for the band’s remix of Waka’s “Hard in the Paint,” (the original has more than 21 million hits on YouTube).
