UFC set to slam Halifax, Quebec City for the first time
Ultimate Fighting Championship making stops in at least five cities this year
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is making its way north, with live events scheduled for the first time this year in Halifax and Quebec City.
The following are confirmed Canadian UFC events scheduled for 2014:
- April 16: Quebec City, Colisée Pepsi.
- June 14: Vancouver, Rogers Arena.
- Sept. 27: Toronto, Air Canada Centre.
- Oct. 4: Halifax, Halifax Metro Centre.
- Dec. 6: Montreal, Bell Centre.
"Last year was a banner year for the UFC but Canada is set to break new ground in 2014 as we're literally going from coast to coast with events stretching between Nova Scotia and British Columbia," said Tom Wright, the managing director of UFC for Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
"After hosting 14 events through our first six years since coming to Canada, we're excited to bring our fans five live UFC events north of the border in 2014."
UFC officials said they are also planning to visit smaller communities in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
Tickets for the general public go on sale Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. with early access for UFC Fightclub members and UFC newsletter subscribers.
UFC is the largest mixed martial arts production company in the world. Mixed martial arts is considered an extreme combat sport with fighters using a combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, karate and judo techniques.
