RCMP say vehicle left the road, rolled over in McLellans Brook early Saturday

RCMP say a 23-year-old Hillside, N.S., man has been charged with two counts of drunk driving causing death after a single-vehicle crash that happened in Pictou County early Saturday morning.

In a news release, police said they were called to Brookville Road in McLellans Brook, N.S., around 4:10 a.m. AT.

The three people were in a Honda CRV that left the road and rolled over.

RCMP said the two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

One is a 23-year-old Trenton, N.S., woman, while the other is a 23-year-old Stellarton, N.S., man.

RCMP say the driver failed a roadside breath test at the scene of the crash and was arrested. However, they say he refused to provide a breath sample after being taken to the detachment.

The driver also faces two counts of refusing to comply with a demand after an accident that resulted in a death.

The man will appear in Pictou provincial court in September.
