RCMP arrest suspect in Victoria County homicide

RCMP have arrested a suspect in relation to the death of a 77-year-old man at a residence on New Haven Road in northern Cape Breton.

The RCMP have arrested a suspect in relation to the homicide of a 77-year-old Cape Breton man.

RCMP say they were called to a residence on New Haven Road in Victoria County on Monday around 9 p.m. The death was considered suspicious at the time, and is now being investigated as a homicide.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from RCMP. Police did not provide any details about the person.

Cpl. Chris Marshall said the suspect will remain in custody overnight and it's anticipated charges will be laid in the morning.

The investigation is continuing. Police said more information will be released as it becomes available.
