RCMP say boat collided with something Friday, but it's unclear what

A search for a missing boater on Eel Lake near Saulnierville, N.S., continued into its second day Saturday.

RCMP Sgt. Jeff LeBlanc said around 60 people are participating in the search, with search teams from the Annapolis Valley to Yarmouth areas assisting.

LeBlanc said a helicopter from the Department of Natural Resources is also involved, as well as five boats from various fire departments.

He said RCMP are also investigating the circumstances around the incident, which RCMP learned about on Friday around 5 p.m. AT.

LeBlanc said two people were on board a 4.25-metre aluminum boat when there was a collision. He said it's unclear what the boat struck, but the two males went overboard, with one person being rescued.

LeBlanc said there's a canoeing event happening in the area, but the two boaters were not participants.

A tweet from the N.S. RCMP at 6:02 p.m. Saturday said the person has not been located. An RCMP underwater recovery team will join the search on Sunday, the tweet said.
