RCMP in Nova Scotia's Colchester County have arrested two people in connection with the search for a man wanted on charges including assault and unlawful confinement.

An arrest warrant was issued last month for Michael Roland Sinton, 26, of Upper Brookside, N.S. He remained at large as of Thursday.

The investigation led officers to a home Thursday in Upper Brookside where they seized a number of firearms and ammunition.

A 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were arrested. Police said they face charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact for allegedly helping Sinton avoid arrest.

Both were released on conditions and will return to Truro provincial court to answer the charges at a later date.

RCMP have focused their search for Sinton this week in the area of Nuttby, N.S., after receiving a report on the morning of Nov. 22 that Sinton was threatening to harm a woman he knows and himself.

Sinton, who is believed to be armed, drove into the woods in Nuttby, about 25 kilometres north of Truro, on a green ATV, police said in a news release.

Sinton also faces charges of uttering threats, mischief, break and enter with intent and offences related to the operation of a motor vehicle for alleged incidents between May 2018 and January 2020. Police said the investigation into the Nov. 22 incident is ongoing and no charges have been laid in that matter.

Sinton is described as five feet seven inches, 180 pounds and has reddish facial hair and green eyes. Anyone who sees Sinton should stay away from him and call police.
