If your New Year's resolution was to go camping more often, mark Jan. 26 in your calendar.

That's the new, extra-early date you can begin making reservations at certain Parks Canada sites.

"Previously, Parks Canada's reservation system opened in April," says spokeswoman Kassandra Dazé. "Parks Canada realizes that more and more families plan their summer vacations well in advance."

So they're starting three months earlier at 27 sites across the country. On the East Coast, the early bookers are:

Nova Scotia

  • Cape Breton Highlands National Park
  • Kejimkujik National Park

Prince Edward Island

  • Prince Edward Island National Park

New Brunswick

  • Fundy National Park
  • Kouchibouguac National Park

Newfoundland and Labrador

  • Gros Morne National Park
  • Terra Nova National Park
