Old Sambro Road now open after Metro Transit bus crash

One person is in hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle and a Metro Transit bus crashed along Old Sambro Road in Halifax Friday evening.

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a head-on crash between a car and a Metro Transit bus along Old Sambro Road in Halifax Friday evening.

Another passenger vehicle then rear-ended the first car, police said.

The road was shut down in both directions near Harrietsfield for several hours, but has now reopened. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m.

The woman driving the car that hit the bus had to be extracted by firefighters and was taken to the QEII hospital.

There were five passengers on the bus. They were checked out by paramedics and released.

The driver of the second passenger vehicle wasn’t injured.​
