St. Margaret's Bay man was concerned of scam to siphon fuel from home oil tanks

A Nova Scotia fuel company says a miscommunication is to blame after a St. Margaret's Bay man worried he was the target of a scam to siphon fuel from his home oil tank.

Michael Shaw says yesterday two men pulled up to his home with a hose attached to a tank in the back of a Ford F-150 truck.

Shaw says he was suspicious because the company had been to the home the day before.

When Shaw's wife called the company, they told her to call police.

Pioneer fuels confirmed today that Shaw's home was flagged as at risk for running out of fuel and it was a miscommunication that resulted in two crews from the company being sent out.
