Nurses union, Capital Health deadlocked in talks

The union that represents 2,600 nurses in the Capital District Health Authority is asking for a conciliator to help with their negotiations.

The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union said eight days of talks between  Local 97 and health administrators have not had much progress.

Union president Joan Jessome said the district is not properly addressing scheduling and patient safety issues.

She also said the health authority is asking for what she calls “serious clawbacks.”

The NSGEU said they hope a conciliator can help them reach an agreement without having to strike.
