Swifties from Nova Scotia flock to Toronto for Eras Tour
'There's Taylor everywhere. It's amazing,' says Atlantic Canadian Swifties co-founder
Some Taylor Swift fans from Nova Scotia are making the trip to Toronto to see the international pop star perform on the Eras Tour.
Jill Wagner, the co-founder of Atlantic Canadian Swifties, said the mood in the city was "electric" for Swift's opening performance Thursday night.
"There are friendship bracelet murals, there's different posters all around the city, the cabs have Taylor Swift's face on them," she said from a restaurant in Toronto. "There's Taylor everywhere. It's amazing."
Thursday night's show was the first of six Swift will hold at the Rogers Centre.
Wagner told Information Morning Nova Scotia that it's been easy to identify other Swift fans by their friendship bracelets and other merchandise.
Wagner said she'd ended up sitting beside a few other Swift fans from Nova Scotia in the restaurant. Those fans said they had taken time earlier in the week to explore the city and were looking forward to getting into their floor seats for the performance.
Wagner went on to say that Thursday night was the 31st time she was seeing the pop singer perform and she was excited to be a part of Swift's first Canadian show as the world tour draws to a close.
"I went [to the] first night in Arizona … none of us knew what was happening in that show," she said. "So now, jumping into people, actually knowing what's happening in the shows, it's going to be so much fun getting to experience with everyone, the first [show in] Toronto."
30 million people tried to buy tickets
An estimated 30 million people tried to get tickets to her Toronto dates over a year ago. The city and its local businesses have been preparing for months for her arrival.
Toronto Police Deputy Chief Lauren Pogue says the city is taking an "all-hands-on-deck" approach, including working with the city, other first responders and local public transit.
Swift's last show in Toronto is set for Nov. 23, with her final Canadian tour date scheduled for Dec. 8 in Vancouver.
