Nova Scotia weather to stay soggy with more rain on the way
It will be warm, wet and windy throughout Nova Scotia for the rest of Wednesday and into Thursday
A warm front moving into southern Ontario, associated with a strong area of low pressure, will lift north of Nova Scotia tonight. It will bring showers, drizzle, fog and rising temperatures.
Tonight
The last part of the province to see a transition from flurries to rain will be Cape Breton, and that will happen late this afternoon or early evening.
Winds will be from the south and southeast tonight, increasing to 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h. A wind warning has been issued for Inverness County, which will see gusts exceeding 100 km/h.
Showers, drizzle and fog will continue through the night with additional rainfall amounts of two millimetres to five millimetres.
Temperatures will rise through the night. By midnight, they will range from 6 C to 10 C across the province.
Thursday
Showers, drizzle and fog will continue on Thursday morning, with winds continuing to increase and gusts from the south of expected through the day.
A band of rain accompanied by localized downpours will move west across the province in the afternoon. That band of rain will continue across the northeast of the mainland and Cape Breton by Thursday evening.
A few rumbles of thunder isn't out of the question.
General rainfall totals will range 15 millimetres to 25 millimetres, but due to the presence of localized downpours, amounts exceeding 30 millimetres for some areas is a possibility.
Be cautious about hydroplaning conditions on the roads and reduced visibility in the heaviest rain. Localized flooding is a possibility.
Temperatures will be very warm on Thursday, with highs of 10 C to 14 C expected across the province.
Behind the main band of rain, partly cloudy skies and scattered showers are expected for Thursday night.
