Parts of Nova Scotia to see up to 25 cm of snow Tuesday
Most of mainland Nova Scotia to be hit with snow, while Cape Breton should see flurries
Snowfall or winter storm warnings are in effect for most of Nova Scotia, which could see parts of the province hit with as much as 25 cm of snow, says Environment Canada.
The weather agency says snow will begin moving over the western portion of the province Tuesday morning and spread eastward throughout the day.
"The snow will mix with or change to ice pellets this evening then taper to flurries overnight. The extreme southwestern Nova Scotia coastline will see a changeover to rain tonight then back to ice pellets or snow before it ends overnight," says Environment Canada.
The snowfall warnings are for 15 to 25 cm of snow and are in effect for:
- Annapolis County
- Digby County
- Halifax
- Hants County
- Kings County
- Lunenburg County
- Queens County
- Shelburne County
- Yarmouth County
Environment Canada says up to 15 cm of snow can be expected for the following areas, which have winter storm warnings:
- Colchester County
- Cumberland County
- Guysborough County
Cape Breton will mostly be spared from the heavy snowfalls and should be cloudy with flurries.
