The Department of Natural Resources says bear hunting season opened yesterday. Bow hunters can now go after deer as well. Deer hunting season for muzzleloaders and crossbows begins Sept. 28.
General deer hunting with rifles opens Oct. 30. But the department has lifted the ban on Sunday hunting for the first two Sundays of general deer hunting. So for this year, hunting all wildlife except moose is permitted Nov. 1 and 8.
Hunting seasons may also vary according to licence.
