Nova Scotia confirms 4 new cases of swine flu
The chief public health officer for Nova Scotia confirmed four new cases of swine flu in the province on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the province to eight.
"We expected to see new cases and we anticipate more in the coming days," Chief Public Health Officer Robert Strang said in a news release on Thursday.
"This is a constantly evolving situation and the important thing is for people to be aware of the situation and take the necessary precautions," he said.
The new cases are related to an original cluster of four cases among students attending the King's Edgehill School, a private boarding school in Windsor, N.S.
The initial four students who came down with the virus have fully recovered and have returned to classes. The cases involved students who returned from a trip to Mexico in early April.
There were also four new confirmed cases of swine flu in Alberta on Thursday, which has brought the total number of confirmed cases to 27 across Canada. All confirmed cases were said to be mild.
