The spring sitting of the Nova Scotia legislature is now complete as 27 bills were given royal assent by the lieutenant governor on Monday evening.

The sitting was dominated by discussions and protests relating to changes to the province's film tax credit program. On July 1, the existing tax credit will be replaced with a fund that will provide a 25 per cent incentive on all spending for production in the province, plus up to five per cent more in incentives for work involving rural locations and series.

Other pieces of legislation that passed through the house involved a ban on flavoured tobacco and a pledge to close and clean up Boat Harbour.

The budget passed by a vote of 29-15.
