Nova Scotia's Christmas tree gift to Boston has been officially lit up on the city's common.
The 15-metre white spruce is an annual token of gratitude to the Massachusetts city for its help after the Halifax Explosion in 1917.
Today marks 96 years since the explosion, which killed about two-thousand people and injured hundreds more.
A delegation of Nova Scotians travelled to Boston for last night's tree-lighting ceremony.
