There are more claims of past abuse at the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children. The Chronicle Herald reports five more lawsuits and a notice of intended action were filed Wednesday in Supreme Court in Halifax.

The suit names 39 former residents.

Halifax lawyer Raymond Wagner is representing the alleged victims. He says there are 59 former residents who have filed court documents against the home so far.

No defences have been filed. The allegations of physical and sexual abuse date back to the 1960s.

The home was established in the 1920s for black children in need.

The Westphal facility now looks after kids aged 12 to 16 from all backgrounds.
