The salaries for Halifax's mayor and council are going up.
Mayor Mike Savage has been making $162,906.51 He'll now make $168,449.50, about a 3.4 per cent increase.
What councillors earn will go up from $78,776.60 to $80,849.80. That's about a 2.63 per cent increase.
The deputy mayor gets 10 percent more than a councillor salary. Next year Deputy Mayor Lorelei Nicoll will make $88,934.78.
Council salaries are adjusted automatically every year based on a formula set up by an independent committee.
Earlier this year council agreed to review that formula every four years under the guidance of the municipal auditor general.
The new salaries came into effect this week.
