The death of a 20-year-old man near Lake Echo has been deemed a homicide.

The death of a 20-year-old man near Lake Echo has been deemed a homicide.

Police have not named the victim, but CBC News has learned it was Stacey Adams. The man was found dead outside a home on Shadewell Lane, off Mineville Road, on Sunday.

RCMP are not saying how or when the man died.

Shadewell Lane is a quiet dirt road with five new houses. The body was outside the newest home. It was built just a few months ago by a company called Go Hard Construction and was being rented out.

One of the registered owners of the company lives in this home in nearby Porters Lake and told CBC a friend was living at the house.

However, the dead man isn't believed to be a resident in the area, the CBC's Paul Palmeter reported.

An autopsy was scheduled for later Monday.

A Facebook site has been set up in memory of Adams. Among his Facebook friends is Aaron Marriott, who was convicted of attempted murder after a shooting outside the IWK in 2008.

The man who was shot in that incident was an associate of prominent crime figure Jimmy Melvin Jr.

Police would not confirm if Adams had any link to the Marriotts or the Melvins, but said it is part of their investigation.

Shandra Vanlier, who lives near where the body was found, said it was a shock.

"We don't know anything. Police aren't saying anything and we have zero clue. We're just guessing," Vanlier said. "I was very surprised because we didn't expect to see this happen on our street. It was supposed to happen somewhere else, not here."
